The best way to visit Paris and actually get to know the city… is to walk everywhere. Paris is a large city, a capital. But, compared to a lot of other capitals, it’s actually quite small and dense. Berlin and New-York are eight times larger, and London is a whopping twelve times larger than Paris.

It’s also a very intricate city, and it’s tough to drive around as the traffic is often jammed. If you have to get to point A to point B quickly, the public transportation network is obviously a great solution. But, depending where you live in Paris you might find that walking doesn’t actually take that much more time, and that it can be a very pleasant alternative.

People say that the best way to get to know a city is to get lost in it; and as far as Paris is concerned, it’s very true. The crooked, tiny streets, the old boutiques and historical landmarks aren’t anywhere to be seen when you stick to the guidelines and get off at the designated metro station… But if you just let go, put your guide in your pocket, wander around and look up… Paris is right there for the taking.
